Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF).
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and is ideal for: Those who have gained a level 2 and/or level 3 childcare qualification, Registered childminders and assistants who are required to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate, Anyone who has a non-professional involvement with infants and children, such as parents and grandparents who want to learn key paediatric first aid skills.
Course Overview.
Over a 2 day period, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including: assessing an emergency situation, dealing with an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, meningitis, head and spinal injuries, anaphylaxis, asthma and more.
Entry Requirements
Participants in this course need to be at least 18 years old on the first day of training.
While there are no formal prerequisites, we recommend that learners have a minimum of Level 2 literacy or its equivalent, as well as a foundational knowledge of first aid, to fully benefit from the course content.
Course Programme

Understand the role and responsibilities of a first responder.
Be able to assess an incident.
Be able to assess and manage patients with life-threatening and not life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
Be able to assess a patient’s airway.
Be able to manage an unresponsive patient who is not breathing normally.
Be able to safely use an AED during a resuscitation attempt and how to maintain an AED ready for use.
Be able to administer emergency oxygen.

Be able to assess and manage trauma patients.
Be able to assess and manage catastrophic bleeding.
Be able to assess and manage chest injuries.
Be able to assess and manage bleeding.
Be able to assess and manage a patient with compromised circulation.
Know how to assess and manage wounds and eye injuries.
Know how to assess and manage a patient with burns or scalds.
Know how to manage a patient with sudden poisoning.
Be able to provide emergency care to a patient with head, spinal and musculoskeletal injuries
