Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF).
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, ideal for those looking to work or volunteer as a first responder.
Among the first to arrive at a scene, first responders typically include police officers, firefighters, and those providing medical cover at festivals and events such as Emergency/Community First Responders, Door Supervisors, Close Protection Operatives and Security Guards as well as those working in high risk environments including the military, power stations, agriculture and manufacturing.
Course Overview.
This five-day, interactive course meets the competencies required by the PHEM (Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine) skills framework at descriptor level D. It equips participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to handle various pre-hospital emergency scenarios.
Participants will earn the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF). This certification includes training in the administration of emergency oxygen, management of trauma patients, treatment of major illnesses, and other critical topics
Entry Requirements
Participants in this course need to be at least 17 years old on the first day of training.
While there are no formal prerequisites, we recommend that learners have a minimum of Level 2 literacy or its equivalent, as well as a foundational knowledge of first aid, to fully benefit from the course content.
Course Programme

Understand the role and responsibilities of a first responder.
Be able to assess an incident.
Be able to assess and manage patients with life-threatening and not life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
Be able to assess a patient’s airway.
Be able to manage an unresponsive patient who is not breathing normally.
Be able to safely use an AED during a resuscitation attempt and how to maintain an AED ready for use.
Be able to administer emergency oxygen.

Be able to assess and manage catastrophic bleeding.
Be able to assess and manage chest injuries.
Be able to assess and manage bleeding.
Be able to assess and manage a patient with compromised circulation.
Know how to assess and manage wounds and eye injuries.
Know how to assess and manage a patient with burns or scalds.
Know how to manage a patient with sudden poisoning.
Be able to provide emergency care to a patient with head, spinal and musculoskeletal injuries
